West Ham United defender Winston Reid has been named the new captain of the New Zealand national team.
The 24-year old will replace Ryan Nelsen, now head coach at Toronto FC, for Friday's World Cup qualifier with New Caledonia in Dunedin.
Reid, who has skippered the Hammers at stages this season, says his role within the All Whites will not change too much despite being handed the captain's armband.
"The main thing is being honest, saying your opinion and just working really hard, really," he said.
"They're the main attributes I bring to the table."
He added: "I was very privileged to be a Premier League captain for a side like West Ham.
"Now I've got the responsibility of doing it for New Zealand. It's a great honour to captain the national team and me at a young age also."
