West Ham United's summer signing Thomas Hitzlsperger has suffered more injury misery and is now set to miss up to four months.
The German midfielder has not yet played for his new club since joining from Lazio and it looks like he will not get his chance until at least February.
Hitzlsperger first sustained the thigh injury whilst playing for Germany back in August but resumed training with West Ham eight weeks later.
However, upon returning, the muscle completely tore away from the bone and he will now require surgery which a Hammers insider labeled as a 'disaster'.
"It's a disaster. It's not career-threatening but it's incredible bad luck for him and the club. He's one of the most important players here," the source told SunSport.
