West Ham's Henry got wrong train on way to Blackburn debut

Doneil Henry has revealed that he got lost on his way from London to Sheffield prior to his debut with Blackburn Rovers.

The Canadian defender, who joined West Ham United in January, gained a loan move to Blackburn on Wednesday and had to move quickly in order to make it to Hillsborough for the Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

"My mind was focusing on the Chelsea fixture that we had tonight and meeting my team and getting ready to go to the hotel," he told the Lancashire club's official website.

"Then I got the call from the manager saying that a good opportunity had come up and that Blackburn is really interested in taking you on a loan deal.

"I was excited because I want to play games, so my day was about getting my gear, then getting on the train, getting on the wrong train, getting off at Leicester, then getting back on!

"Gary (Bower) asked if I was comfortable and am I ready? Am I up to it? 100 per cent. I've been waiting for an opportunity to play some football and when it came I knew I had to perform."

Former Toronto FC star Henry arrived at the team hotel at 4pm before playing a full 90 minutes as Rovers edged the Owls 2-1.
