West Ham's Cole eyeing Rooney-like improvement

West Ham striker Carlton Cole wants to change his game to be more like Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Ahead of the Hammers' trip to Old Trafford tonight, Cole targeted a Rooney-like improvement to his game and admitted his goal was to partner the Red Devils talisman at the World Cup later this year.

"Wayne's changed his game dramatically," said Cole.

"I want to be the same. I want to be a team player and a goal-scorer.

"He's trying to get in the middle more. He's not just trying to make things happen for other people.

"He's trying to get on the end of things and he's world class. He knows where the goal is but he's changed his game to get even more goals.

"When I'm in the England team I've seen what he can do. He's a very dominant forward. He can do things most other people can't.

"He's got so much talent. It's all natural. I'm just happy to be in and around him and looking at what he does, because it's marvellous.

"I'd love to play with Wayne at the World Cup - that's my main target."
