West Ham United are moving for FC Tours striker Olivier Giroud, also a target for Celtic.
The Herald says Gianfranco Zola's men have had the free-scoring Frenchman watched and are set to enter the bidding when the transfer window opens in January.
They would be able to offer him a more lucrative financial package than Celtic but it's believed the Parkhead side's persistence and lure of European football continues to sway the player towards Glasgow.
Celtic have been in constant contact with the player's agents and his Ligue 2 side Tours to make it clear they want Giroud to rekindle their SPL title bid.
