Sunderland boss Steve Bruce hopes to sell George McCartney this week.

The Daily Mail says West Ham United want to re-sign McCartney, 30, who has not made a first-team appearance for Sunderland since February 2010.

He spent most of last season on loan at Leeds United.

New Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton is also interested.
