West Ham United have released striker Benni McCarthy from his contract.
A club statement read: "West Ham United have mutually agreed with Benni McCarthy to part company with immediate effect.
"The striker moved to the Boleyn Ground on 1 February 2010 and went on to make 14 appearances for the Hammers.
"The club would like to wish Benni well for the future."
