West Ham United have rejected an offer from Manchester City for midfielder Valon Behrami.

The Sunday Mirror says City were prepared to offer £5million and striker Benjani for the versatile Swiss international midfielder.

Behrami joined the Hammers in July 2008 from Italian side Lazio.

In recent months he has been linked with a number of clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool.

But despite West Ham's severe financial problems the club is not prepared to accept derisory offers for a player who remains a key member of Gianfranco Zola's squad.
