West Ham provide injury update on Valencia and Payet

West Ham United have good news for supporters regarding the injuries to Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet.

Ecuadorian striker Valencia injured his ankle against Everton last week but is only expected to be out of action for the next four to six weeks.

French midfielder Payet was in fine form before he sustained an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with the Toffees but thankfully he will not require surgery, however, he is expected to miss up to three months.

A club statement read: "West Ham United can confirm that Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet both had appointments with their specialists on Monday morning to review their injuries.

"Valencia was advised that he needs an extended rehabilitation period, which has now begun. It is expected that he will be fully recovered by the beginning of the New Year.

"Payet also attended an appointment with a specialist on Monday morning and, along with the Club's medical team, he was advised that he does not need an operation.

"He will therefore start his rehabilitation programme immediately, but is still expected to be unavailable for selection for three months."
