West Ham prepared to lose Upson on Bosman

West Ham United are prepared to lose skipper Matthew Upson on a Bosman in June.

It was suggested yesterday that the Hammers would sell the defender for the right price in January.

But the Daily Express says sources close to the club say that they are happy for him to run down his contract and leave for nothing in the summer if the pay-off is that he helps them to stay up.

Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with Upson.
