West Ham United players have been lifted by the approach of new defensive coach Wally Downes.
While Downes' show of passion during Saturday's win over Wigan Athletic has been noted, even in his first days at the club, a noticeable difference in atmosphere is now running through the playing staff.
A Hammers' player source told tribalfootball.com: "The players say the training ground and dressing room had become flat and almost de-motivating before Downes' arrival.
"It's now hoped that this is the first step forward to resolving that.
"We do not know if he is a great long term solution but at WHUFC we are a club of fighting spirit and need the Harry Redknapp, John Lyall, Billy Bonds management style to inspire the players."
