West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley is chasing Manchester United striker Alan Smith.
Smith could go to Upton Park, ironically, just as Carlos Tevez's protracted move to Old Trafford is completed.
According to the Evening Standard, Curbishley is particularly keen on Smith as he can play as either a striker or in central midfield in the absence of Scott Parker.
But Curbishley must persuade Yorkshireman Smith to re-locate to London instead of joining one of Middlesbrough, Newcastle or Everton.
