West Ham United have confirmed that they will be without Andy Carroll for around four months.
The injury-prone former Newcastle United and Liverpool striker has sustained an ankle injury during the east London club's pre-season tour of New Zealand and will now undergo surgery before being available in December.
Carroll posted the following on Twitter:
Going under the knife tomorrow morning and absolutely devastated to be missing the start of the season!! pic.twitter.com/kTAYuF0YGB
