West Ham United and Millwall are set to lodge their appeals against a total of seven FA charges today.
The clubs were charged in the wake of the ugly scenes that marred their Carling Cup tie at Upton Park in August. West Ham face four counts and Millwall three, with both charged with failing to halt racist behaviour.
Millwall said they were "shocked and disappointed" when the charges were made, claiming that they were powerless to influence the behaviour of fans at another club's ground.
West Ham admitted that some of their fans had behaved "appallingly", but insisted that they had followed the police advice and had done their best to prevent trouble.
Thirteen people were arrested on the night and a 42-year-old man was stabbed in clashes between fans.
