West Ham midfielder Noble retains England hopes

West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble retains England ambitions.

Noble harbours a fierce ambition to represent Roy Hodgson's team and this season could be his best chance with the manager searching for a holding midfielder to replace Steven Gerrard, who has retired from internationals.

"I've always been confident I can make that step," he says. "I'll keep giving it 100 per cent, keep on doing my best for West Ham and hoping I can one day get into that senior squad.

"There have been times in the past, even last season, when there was talk that maybe I could get the call but nothing happened. Hopefully, now, if I keep working hard and playing well, my time could finally come.

"It is a goal and dream of mine to play for England and I'll never give up on that. Players these days often don't peak until they're 30. I have plenty left in the tank."
