West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere: I could've made more abroad

West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere says he could've made much more money moving abroad.

The former Arsenal star was wanted in Italy and a trio of Turkish clubs offered him deals in excess of £150,000 a week to quit Arsenal for the Super Lig.

He said: "Money did not come into it and my decision to leave Arsenal was purely based on football.

"There was a good contract on the table that I could have signed and would have been happy to sign but I have never been a player motivated by money.

"I want to be playing in the best league at the best club I can be, where I can thrive and be an important player.

"Getting back with England was another major reason for joining West Ham. I want to be playing in front of the scouts, the England manager, on Sky and to be in everyone's minds still.

"I have always said that if I'm fit and healthy I want to play for my country. I'm proud to play for England and I have been lucky enough to do that a number of times and I want to carry on doing that."
