West Ham United have made their move for Southampton captain Jose Fonte.

The Daily Mail reports that the Hammers have made further enquiries about the Portuguese defender, who is transfer-listed.

Fonte handed in a transfer request at the start of the winter transfer window and is widely expected to leave St Mary's this month.

Slaven Bilic is eager to get a quality centre-back in as he attempts to drag the East Londoners up the table and with Fonte available, the Euro2016 winner appears the most likely option.
