West Ham make first move for Norwich, QPR target Rhodes

Huddersfield have rejected an approach from West Ham United for Jordan Rhodes.

The 21-year-old Scotland international has struck 20 goals in 20 League One games to his name so far this season attracting interest from a host of suitors including Norwich, QPR and Celtic.

But the Championship side have made him their No 1 target for when the January transfer window reopens for business with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce desperate to strengthen his injury-hit squad.

In addition to this latest snub, it is understood the Hammers had an initial offer rejected by Huddersfield.

"Jordan Rhodes has only been an enquiry, not an offer or a bid by any stretch of the imagination," Allardyce told Sky Sports News.

"And we have had a straightforward 'absolute no', 'not for sale' from Huddersfield Town so that's out of equation.

"That was just an enquiry to see what the situation was and nothing more than that.

"He is the main man for them to get them out of that division. This young lad is their main goalscorer.

"I suppose if the bid was big enough they would have to think about it, but I don't think we have that sort of money."
