West Ham United loan signing David Bentley is expected to be sidelined for up to six months because of a knee injury.
The 27-year old winger, who joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Tottenham in the summer, has undergone knee surgery and will now miss out on most of the season with the West Londoners.
"It is a great shame for David as he had settled in well to the squad. We wish him well and hope he has a speedy recovery," West Ham boss Sam Allardyce told the club's official website.
