West Ham lodge new bid to become Olympic Stadium tenants

West Ham United have submitted a fresh bid to move in to the Olympic Stadium following this summer's London Olympic Games.

The Hammers were initially given the rights to occupy the venue in Stratford at the conclusion of the 2012 Games but had that taken away when London rivals Tottenham and Leyton Orient lodged complaints.

But West Ham today released a statement saying that the East London club would put in a new bid to take the stadium on a lease basis as opposed to permanent residency.

"West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has today confirmed the club's intention to submit a bid by lunchtime (Friday 23rd March) to be the anchor user of the Olympic Stadium post-Games in line with the OPLC deadline," read the statement on the club's official website.
