West Ham United legend Julian Dicks says Sam Allardyce must do all he can to sign permanently Andy Carroll.
Carroll is on-loan at West Ham from Liverpool.
Dicks told the Daily Star Sunday: "I really like Andy Carroll and think he is right for West Ham when you have Sam as a manager.
"He gives you that option if you want to play direct and he knows where the goal is. But he is not a prolific striker and the price has to be right.
"I don't think they should pay more than £12m for him, given that he will be on around £80,000 a week.
"I am glad West Ham kept him during the transfer window.
"But I hope he has stayed for the right reasons and won't want to leave again in the summer."
