West Ham legend Dicks: Only Parker has necessary fight

West Ham United legend Julian Dicks fears the current squad doesn't have the steel to survive a relegation battle.

Hardman Dicks - dubbed the Terminator - claimed Gianfranco Zola's strugglers do not have enough "passion, desire or commitment" to dig themselves out of danger.

Dicks, now in charge of Grays Athletic, told the Mirror: "It's going to be a real dogfight for them now for the rest of the season.

"It's a situation that I've been in before, but what worries me about this current team is that I don't know whether they've got enough fight in the team.

"You can talk about the problems with finance, the club's future and everything like that, but at the moment that doesn't mean anything if the players on the pitch haven't got the stomach for it.

"At the moment there's a complete lack of passion, lack of desire and there's only one player who really looks as if he's up for it and that's Scott Parker.

"There's too much money in the game now, the players are on too much money and they don't look hungry enough to me.

"I've been involved in some ups and downs at West Ham down the years and the club is still very dear to my heart.

"But the one thing you could always say about the club was that they had fighters in there - players like Billy Bonds, Alvin Martin and the rest, players who would give everything for the club.

"That's what is lacking from the current set-up and, while it pains me to say it, it's only Parker who really showed any sort of fight at Bolton.

"That really surprises me but it means that relegation is a very real possibility for West Ham."
