Paolo di Canio has warned England's stars their partying days are over under manager Fabio Capello.
West Ham legend Di Canio branded Capello a "p***s face" in a blazing row when he played for the new England boss at AC Milan in 1996.
But the maverick Italian insists his hard-line former gaffer is the right man to reverse years of underachievement for the Three Lions.
And he believes that Capello will clamp down hard on the wild lifestyles of England players, such as Chelsea fullback Cole.
"Capello will have studied the mentality of the players and will come down hard on that. When I played for him at Milan he used to say that too many good nights out were a distraction.
"He said that too much drinking and nightclubbing was not good for the concentration and he will definitely come down on that situation. The odd night out when you are young is fine because you can put aside your stress, but not all the time and he will stop this."
Di Canio claimed his infamous row with Capello on Milan's pre-season tour of China in 1996 was soon forgotten.
And he will be watching his former Hammers teammates like Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole when Capello takes charge of England for the first time for the Wembley friendly against Switzerland on Wednesday.
Di Canio said: "Capello and I have had our problems in the past. He is a strong character and he is very determined. Things like that happen between players and managers all the time.
"I met him after that and we shook hands and it was all put behind us."
