West Ham United legend Tony Cottee has hailed the work of Tony Carr with the club's academy.

"Over the last 30-years there has been one consistent factor and I can sum it up in two words: Tony Carr," insisted Cottee to the Guardian. "Tony is the youth-team manager and he was there when I was coming through the ranks.

"He's played a part in the making of some great names, the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and several others who are now major players and international players too."
