West Ham United goalkeeper Robert Green learned of his England axing first from the media.
Green was dumped by England coach Fabio Capello for Portsmouth's David James ahead of their stalemate with Algeria.
The Daily Mail says Green discovered he had been dropped via the media and long boring afternoons confined to quarters.
