West Ham have jumped into the battle for Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina.

Colombia international Mina helped Palmeiras to the Brazilian title last year and was named the League's Defender of the Season.

Barcelona have first option on the defender, but Hammers boss Slaven Bilic wants to sign him this month.

The Mirror says Bilic is already in contact with Palmeiras about a deal for Mina.

The Irons are keen to take him on-loan, though would be prepared to buy outright if Palmeiras play hardball.
