West Ham intent on ensuring safety as quickly as possible - Collins

West Ham United defender James Collins says the east London club will do everything possible in order to achieve safety as swiftly as they can.

The Hammers are up to 11th on the Premier League table after winning their past three matches which has seen them move to 28 points.

A midseason break to Dubai has refreshed the squad and Collins feels West Ham are well-placed to grab the 12 points necessary to ensure their safety in England's top flight.

"We have got to try and get as many points as we can. We are still not safe, that is the main objective," Collins said.

"If we could finish around that area where we finished last year, from the start that would be an unbelievable season."

He added: "I don't think a lot (has changed in the past few matches). We have got 13 clean sheets during the whole season, we have been defending well.

"Obviously there has been the odd game where we have let three or four in, which is going to happen with the quality in the Premier League.

"We have defended reasonably well all season, it was the other end where we were struggling to score goals."
