West Ham United legend Sir Trevor Brooking insists the England U21s are not a lost cause.

FA technical chief Brooking hopes England's Under-21s can rebuild their shattered confidence when they kick-off their new Euro 2015 campaign.

The Young Lions will host Moldova in Reading in their Group One opener on September 5.

Brooking said: "It's important now to start building again.

"The Under-21s have six qualifiers to play before Christmas and we want them to express themselves and get a bit of confidence back."
