West Ham furious with Senegal medical staff after Sakho cock-up

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is furious with the way Diafra Sakho was treated by Senegal staff while away on international duty.

The £3.5million summer signing from Metz was so poorly treated by the Senegal medical team that a routine back complaint turned into something altogether more serious.

The striker remains a major doubt for Tuesday's trip to West Brom because of a serious 'mishap' by the country's physio - and is doubtless something the Hammers will be concerned with ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Allardyce has suggested that he will send some of the club's staff with Sakho so as to prevent problems such as this happening again.

"The thing with Sakho is that it's a medical mishap by Senegal, which is the biggest contention we have," he said. "This wasn't an injury gained by him playing football, it was a mishap by their medical staff.

"When you've a player in such good form it's hard to accept that it's happened.

"Because of the quality of our medical staff, his recovery will hopefully be quicker than we thought. And the determination of the player.

"This player does not want to miss a game or a day's training.

"If I said could he play today even though he wasn't fit he would've said he'd give it a go."
