West Ham United fullback Carl Jenkinson says there's plenty for England U21s to be excited about.
Under current boss Gareth Southgate they are a team on the rise, chalking up their 11th consecutive win on Thursday with a 3-1 success against Portugal in a friendly at Burnley.
"We have got our own destiny and our own history to make as a team," Jenkinson, on-loan from Arsenal, said.
"I don't think we should worry about what has happened in the past.
"If you look at previous teams it hasn't been great but that's got nothing to do with us.
"We are our own team. We are playing with confidence and how is looking back going to help anyone? It's not going to help us."
