West Ham United midfielder Ravel Morrison was fortunate to escape a red card after defeat at Crystal Palace last night.

He was lucky not to be sent off for pushing Joel Ward in the face after the final whistle as West Ham crashed to defeat.

Palace star Ward reacted angrily to James Tomkins accidentally kicking the ball at him seconds after referee Lee Mason blew for time to give Palace the win that lifts them off the bottom of the Premier League table.

West Ham midfielder Morrison needlessly ran 50 yards to get involved in the incident and angrily raised his hands to shove Ward.

He was fortunate only to be handed a yellow card and not a red, though the booking was his fifth of the season and he will miss Saturday’s trip to Liverpool.
