West Ham United have failed in their attempt so sign Alberto Gilardino on loan from Genoa.

The Hammers were looking to bring the 31-year old striker on a season-long loan but I Rossoblu have denied them the chance to do so.

Gilardino joined Genoa from Fiorentina in 2012 but was loaned to Bologna for the 2012/13 season where he netted 13 goals in 37 appearances.
