West Ham face £140M bill for stadium move

West Ham United have been told it will cost a fortune to relocate the club to the new London Olympic Stadium.

The Daily Mail says West Ham have been told there dream move to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium will cost them in excess of £140million.

The debt-ridden club, who saw their Premier League survival hopes dealt a huge blow last night after a humiliating 3-1 home loss at the hands of fellow strugglers Wolves, submitted a joint bid with Newham Council to occupy the venue on Tuesday.

Co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan are desperate to beat off competition from UK Athletics in a bid to seal the club's long-term future.

West Ham have eight weeks to submit their final proposal, with a decision on the stadium's future announced in March 2011.
