West Ham United defender Matthew Upson is set to start for England against Slovenia.

With Ledley King still injured and Jamie Carragher suspended, the former Birmingham City man has beaten out Spurs' Michael Dawson to claim the position.

It is claimed Upson was told of the decision by Fabio Capello at England's team meeting on Sunday night, says the Mirror.

Capello is also claimed to be pondering a switch to 4-3-3 and playing Jermain Defoe upfront with Wayne Rooney.
