West Ham United defender Jonathan Spector has urged USA teammates not to become obsessed with Manchester United's England star Wayne Rooney.

America look to spring a World Cup shock but Spector has told his pals not to get preoccupied with the Manchester United star.

Spector said: "He is certainly a very talented player and we are all very much aware of that.

"But he isn't the only player in the England side with loads of ability so it would be a mistake to concentrate on him.

"We haven't actually formulated a game plan yet but I think one of the main things for us is that we can't afford to concentrate solely on England.

"We have to remain focused on what we are going to do and not get distracted by thinking about other people too much."
