West Ham defender Collins: No reason we cannot beat Chelsea

West Ham United centre-back James Collins believes that his side are capable enough to see off Chelsea next week.

Chelsea continued their rampant pursuit of the Premier League title with a 3-1 victory over Swansea City last weekend and the Blues will now be confident of continuing their fine run against an inconsistent West Ham side at the London Stadium on Monday night.

While West Ham certainly head into the clash against Chelsea as underdogs, defender Collins is not fazed by the challenge and has stated his optimism that the Hammers are good enough to earn a positive result from the encounter.

The Welsh defender said: "We beat them at our place in the cup so it shows they've got to come to us and it's going to be a good night.

"They've shown their class in the last few weeks and they're a top quality team. It's easy for me to say but it's up to them to throw [the Premier League title] away now. They look strong.

"We played them in that first game of the season and you could see they were a strong team. Since then they have gone from strength to strength. It's going to be tough.

"But confidence is high at the minute and we had a nice trip away recently, a bit of team bonding, and everyone is looking forward to what's coming up.

"It's exciting and although we've got a tough run-in, everyone's looking forward to it. I don't think we were ever in danger. We had a couple of months being down there but we have a squad and a team to pick up better results."
