West Ham dealing with Faubert situation

West Ham United have confirmed they are dealing with midfielder Julien Faubert in-house after he left Upton Park early on the weekend.

Upon hearing he would not be a part of the matchday squad for Sunday's clash with Birmingham City, the 27-year old midfielder left the stadium only for manager Avram Grant to need him on the bench after James Tomkins hurt himself in the warm-up.

Tomkins was replaced by Matthew Upson and Grant wanted Faubert on the bench in place of Upson but he was nowhere to be found.

Reports suggest the club would investigate what occurred before handing down any punishment to the former Bordeaux man with a Hammers spokesman saying the club would deal with it.

"This is an internal matter for the club," the spokesman said.
