West Ham confident of striking terms with Everton for Yakubu

West Ham United are confident of reaching a compromise over a fee for Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

The People says Everton rejected a £7million move for the forward last week after the London club's initial £5m offer was shrugged off.

But the Hammers - with Avram Grant confirmed as their new boss - are desperate to boost their attack in light of last season's relegation scrap.

Everton want £10m for their 27-year-old Nigerian, but the final offer is expected to be in the region of £9m and West Ham are confident that the Toffees will accept that.
