West Ham concerned over Cresswell injury

West Ham United are worried that Aaron Cresswell could be sidelined for up to six months.

The Hammers left-back was injured during a pre-season friendly with German club Karlsruher SC on Saturday after a heavy challenge from Grischa Pomel.

Cresswell, 26, knew he was in trouble immediately as he waved to the bench to get their attention before managing to get to his feet to walk off the pitch.

However, Hammers fan site Claret and Hugh reported that Cresswell had sustained a serious knee injury which was later confirmed by co-chairman David Gold on Twitter.

He wrote: "CandH sources are accurate and we are apprehensive but it doesn't look minor.

“We await the scans in the next day or so good luck Aaron. DG"

West Ham will now await the results of scans to assess the extent of the problem for a player who has missed just one Premier League game over the past two seasons.
