West Ham are weighing up a bid for SPAL defender Francesco Vicari.

Calciomercato.com says the Hammers will look to raid Italy after being impressed with the defender's performances in Serie A this term.

West Ham scouts were in attendance last week at the San Siro to run the rule over the 23-year-old defender in the defeat at Milan on Wednesday.

The former Italy under-21 international is playing in his first season in Serie A after helping SPAL secure promotion last season.

The East London side are no strangers to taking young defenders from the Italian top flight.

They signed Italian international Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus in 2015 for around £10million.
