West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has hit back at Stoke City over their criticism of the deal done for Demba Ba.
In her diary for The Sun, Brady wrote: "Why Stoke manager Tony Pulis feels it necessary to disclose that his club rejected Demba Ba because of knee problems, I can only guess.
"So I will. He's niggled that the Senegal striker has scored so freely since we signed him on loan, chiefly as an act of faith because he was so desperate to play.
"Some stars won't play with a pulled eyelash but he's the very opposite. They'd have to pull out an eye. Desire keeps a player competing and no doctor can measure that.
"At St Andrew's, we took many risks on players who failed medicals but their goals kept us up."
