West Ham chief Brady: Everton veteran Barry deserves greater recognition

West Ham chief Karren Brady has paid tribute to Everton veteran Gareth Barry.

Karren wrote in her diary for The Sun:

"Tomorrow (today), for Everton, the 35-year-old equals David James' Premier League starts record of 571 games.

"In my view, had someone spotted Barry's potential as a defensive midfielder earlier in his career, he'd have had 100 caps rather than 53.

"It might be no exaggeration that his manager Roberto Martinez describes this mild, assured man as 'one of the best English players ever'."
