West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is chasing Southampton striker Ricki Lambert.

The Sun says big Sam is a long-term fan of the Southampton striker and with interest cooling on Andy Carroll as a £17million end-of-season option, Lambert, 30, has come into the frame.

The Hammers will test the water during next month's transfer window but they do not expect Saints to let their top scorer go until the summer.
