West Ham United and Cardiff City are chasing Espanyol midfielder Alex Fernandez.
The Mirror says former Real Madrid starlet Fernandez, 21, would be available for the Hammers or Malky Mackay's Bluebirds to take on-loan, but his Barcelona-based club want a £500,000 fee to farm him out.
The stylish central midfielder has played for Spain at every youth level from Under-17s up, and was player of the tournament at the U19s European Championship in 2011.
