West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola says he was sorry that he couldn't come to an agreement with new Everton signing Lucas Neill. "He knew that he was one of the players I wanted to stay," he said. "Unfortunately there is a third party involved - the club knew I wanted him but couldn't find an agreement. I'm sorry about that.
"He was an important player and did a great job for me. I can say thank you for his work and now I wish all the luck he deserves. I do respect his position."
