West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is hoping the club can retain captain and key defender Lucas Neill.

West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is hoping the club can retain captain and key defender Lucas Neill.

The Australian international’s contract at Upton Park expired at the end of June and he has been closely linked with a move to Turkish club Galatasaray but Zola would love for him to stay a Hammers player.

“We hope so. He has got our trust and we like him, so it is down to him,” Zola told Sky Sports News.
