West Ham boss Zola determined to bring Toni to London

West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola is determined to land Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni.

The Mirror says Zola is set to step up his attempts to land Bayern Munich superstar Toni following West Ham's exit from the Carling Cup.

The Italian had fielded a strong side against Bolton with the Hammers quietly confident of a good run in this season's competition. But his front men missed a stack of chances to build on Herita Ilunga's opener and were reeled in by Bolton, who eventually ran out 3-1 winners after extra time.

Toni, 32, is still very much in the Italian national picture but cannot get a game at Bayern Munich following the arrivals of Mario Gomez from Stuttgart and Ivica Olic from Hamburg.

He is yet to make an appearance after suffering an achilles problem and Zola is set to explore moves to bring him to England in January.
