West Ham boss Zola delighted with Dyer's first start

West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola was delighted with Kieron Dyer's first start of the season in their defeat to Chelsea.

Dyer hasn't started a game since December 2007 and Zola said: "He applied himself well and had to work harder than normal. It's another step forward for him.

"He had a great chance. It was a great ball to him. It went to his left which is not his best foot but Petr Cech made a good save."
