West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has explained their recent departures.

A number of players have left the club on loan including Jordan Hugill, Sead Haksabanovic and Sam Byram.

Pellegrini has explained why.

"When building the squad we knew we'd have to let some players go," the West Ham boss said.

"Some players, especially the young ones who need to play football, knew they were going to go out on loan."
