West Ham United are moving for Middlesbrough defender David Wheater.
The People says new Hammers boss Avram Grant plans to radically overhaul his squad and has made enquiries about the former England Under-21 star, who can quit the Riverside for £3million.
Wheater, 23, only has a year left on his Boro deal. He was keen to help guide his hometown club back to the Premier League - but a disastrous slide down the Championship table has convinced him it is time to move on.
Wheater was called up to the England senior squad two years ago, but has yet to win a full cap.
